Confederation of Indian Industry along with Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India celebrated the India Day on 17th September, 2015.
The India Day was inaugurated by Shri Anant Geete, Minister, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India. Among the other dignitaries present were Shri Ambuj Sharma, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India, Smt. Ravneet Kaur, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Government of India & Shri Vijay Gokhale,Ambassador of India to Germany, Berlin.
Alongside the event, an “India Day” investment seminar was held on 18th Sep, 2015. The seminar was inaugurated with a Welcome Address by Shri Anant Geete, Minister, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India & moderated by Mr.Matthias Wissmann, President, VDA.
“A Strategic Insight into India”, was presented by Mr. Bernhard Steinruecke, Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce followed by “The Indian Automotive Market & its Perspective” shared by Mr. Vinod Desari, President (Designate), SIAM & Managing Director, Ashok Leyland.
“The Supplier Perspective in India” was also shared by Mr. Ramesh Suri, President, ACMA & Chairman, Subros Ltd. “The perspectives of International German company with Deep Roots in India” was presented by Dr. Steffen Berns, MD, Bosch Ltd. & President, Bosch Group India.
The event also saw presentations made by Working Groups on Indo-German Cooperation in the Automotive Sector. The session witnessed Senior Govt. Officials including Shri Ambuj Sharma, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Department of Heavy Industry, Govt. of India & Dr. Veit Steinle, Director General, Environment, Policy & Infrastructure, Department Policy Issues, Federal Ministry of Transport, Building & Urban Development, Germany sharing the policy framework & way forward.
Make in India, “Investment Roundtable”, (Promoting India as Automotive Hub), session saw welcome remarks by Mr. Deep Kapuria, Chairman, Hi-Tech Gears Ltd. followed by presentation by Smt. Ravneet Kaur, IAS, Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Govt. of India.
“Make in India: Mittelstand, Market Entry Support Programme for the German Mittelstand”, was addressed by Shri P.S. Gangadhar, First Secretary (Economic & Commercial), Embassy of India, Berlin.
The session was ended by an Indian inspired Lunch Buffet & visit to the IAA Motor Show.
An India Networking Dinner was also hosted by Smt. Ravneet Kaur, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry on 18th Sep, 2015 and attended by dignitaries & special invitees from India & Germany.
